 SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR/ SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

The candidate will manage the commercial, contractual, and financial aspects of Projects from inception to final account.

Reporting to the Managing Director, to ensure every project is delivered on time and within budget and that accurate and timely reports are produced.

Key responsibilities include preparing bills of quantities, managing subcontractor procurement, controlling project budgets/ cash flow, evaluating variations, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

. Cost Management: Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.

. Contract payments, valuations, and final accounts.

. Variations & Claims: Measure, value, and negotiate changes to the scope of work.

. Procurement: Analyse subcontractor quotations, make recommendations, and manage sub-contractor orders.

. Reporting & Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits to ensure and guide in measuring work progress and prepare accurate monthly cost-value reconciliations.

. Stakeholder Management: Liaise with clients, project managers, and consultants, representing the company in meetings.

. Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior quantity surveyors and assistant staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications

. Experience: Extensive experience in Project Management & Quantity Surveying, specifically within civil engineering or infrastructure/road projects.

. Education: A degree in Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.

. Certification: Chartered Status, Professional Qualification or equivalent is often preferred or expected. MSc/MBA and/or PMP will be essential

. Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and construction- specific software.

. Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction law,

contract administration (e.g., NEC/FIDIC/JBCC, etc), and procurement processes.

. Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

· Experience: demonstrate in-depth experience in a commercial role within civil engineering;

. Team Player: be able to work well both in a team and individually;

. Communication: possess good communication skills;

. Organization: be self-motivated, detail orientated and very organised, with an aptitude for working with numbers and absorbing and analysing technical information;

. Typical Working Environment. The role involves a mix of office-based work and visiting construction sites. It requires traveling to project locations, particularly for road and infrastructure projects.


Minimum Qualifications

. B.Eng/B.Sc Civil Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying and/or related

. MBA, MSc, PMP, Prince2 will be added advantage

. Professional Registration is essential

. Proficiency in MS Project is essential

. 15 years experience minimal, with 5 to 10 years of Roads and Infrastructure Projects held at Senior Level.
